This private tour begins in St. Mark's Square, the heart of Venice. Here, your guide will explain the square's impressive architecture built in the ninth century. You will then visit the interior of the Basilica of San Marco, at the eastern end of the spacious piazza. With its opulent Byzantine design and marvelous golden mosaics depicting Saint Mark's story, the Basilica, built in 1063, is the emblem of Venetian wealth and power.
After a walk through the historic Sestriere Castello, the next stop will be one of the best cioccolaterie in Venice, VizioVirtu'. Located in the district where coffee and cocoa powder were first traded in Europe, it is the ideal place to learn more about the history of chocolate. While seated in front of the open lab where their specialties are created, you will taste refined pralines, ganaches, and liquid chocolate.
The tour concludes with a walk through the area where the famous trader Marco Polo lived, passing through charming little courtyards like Corte del Remeron the Grand Canal, from where you will have a great view of the the Rialto Bridge and other nearby buildings. The tour ends in Campo San Bartolomeo, right under the Rialto Bridge.
