Pedal through the flat streets, picturesque piazzas and wide walls of Lucca on this full-day private bike tour departing from Florence.
This bike tour is a unique opportunity to explore settings of great natural and architectural beauty about 50 miles west of Florence, while engaging in some invigorating physical activity. It is the best way to get an introduction to the splendor of Lucca's centro storico with its flat city area.
You will meet your guide and collect your bike at Florence S.M. Novella station. From there you will catch a train to Lucca, the city of "a hundred churches" that has preserved the ancient mystery of its streets, squares, Renaissance palaces and medieval towers. Rich in history, the charming old-town center is completely enclosed by imposing 16th century brick walls that are wide enough for tall trees to grow on top.
Upon arrival in the ancient town of Lucca, you will set off on your bike on a circular route through the park along the banks of the Serchio river. Then you will pause for a lunch break on your own. After lunch you will enjoy another interesting route along the walls and inside the historic center with some stops to take pictures that will record your moments on the road. You will be back in Florence by the late afternoon.
Total mileage for this cycling tour is about 20 miles.
