Explore Rome's archaeological sites and learn the history of incomparable Roman architectural masterpieces on this 3-hour small group tour.
Join other interested travelers to explore Rome's most significant archaeological sites in this 3-hour, small group (max 8 people) tour of the traditions, innovations, and architecture of the ancient Romans.
The tour starts in front of the Colosseum with a short introduction to Rome's architecture and history. Afterwards you will follow your expert guide into the amphitheater where you will hear stories about the hard life of the gladiators and the gory games that used to take place in the arena.
The tour then continues past the Arch of Constantine to the nearby Roman Forum where you will get to see and learn about the Curia, headquarters of the Roman Senate; the Arch of Titus; the funeral altar of Julius Caesar; and the remains of the extraordinary House and Temple of the Vestal Virgins.
Finally, you will move up to the Palatine Hill, one of the most ancient parts of the city and the site where Romolus founded Rome. Since this hill stands 130 feet above the Roman Forum, you will enjoy a great view of the Imperial Palace, built by Emperor Domitian, and of the imperial family's private stadium. Last but not least, the tour ends with a panoramic view over the Circus Maximus where chariot racers competed for glory in the first and largest stadium constructed during the Roman Empire.
This fascinating historical tour provides an overview of Roman architectural masterpieces and includes additional services that help you maximize your time: an officially licensed guide, headsets, and entrance tickets.

This small group tour limited to 8 people wound up with only four, including me, my wife and our 6 year-old son. Our guide Chiara is an architect who had an enthusiasm and understanding of the Colosseum, ruins and surrounding environs that brought everything to life for all four of our group. She was extremely knowledgeable and catered the tour and her presentation to the audience. I highly recommend this tour for visitors of all ages and at all knowledge levels.
